Soulful and Compelling with a dose of Gospel
Coco Love Alcorn is a shining presence on the Canadian music scene. Her career has spanned over 20 years, 10 albums, cross-Canada tours, numerous collaborations, nominations, and notable success in TV and film licensing. As a performer, Coco is joyful and genuine, soulful and compelling. She sings joyful soul; a combination of her diverse musical influences, including jazz, pop, R&B, and folk. Her voice has been hailed as extraordinary, beautiful, and stunning. She is playful and witty, loves improvising, and engages deeply with the audience.
Coco Love Alcorn had always followed her spirit, but never so profoundly as with her latest album, Wonderland. Exploring songwriting from a new perspective, she was curious to see what would happen if she put down her guitar and wrote with just her voice, layering vocals and rhythms on a looper. In 2014 she released a video of one of these looper layered songs, ‘The River’, which spread into the world of community choirs... There are now numerous choirs across Canada, the States, and the UK singing 'The River' and other songs from Wonderland. As her new songs inspired choirs, these choirs in turn inspired Coco, and her music became infused with the spirit of connection.
“Coco is the ultimate musical spark plug... an electrical connector through which the creative energy flows. In my 30 years of touring around the world, I have never seen another performer able to bring people together like Coco does.” - James Keelaghan - Artist Director, Summerfolk and renowned Canadian singer/songwriter
“Coco Love Alcorn should be celebrated as a Canadian treasure” - Tony King, CKUA
