Loud in the Pines is an Edmonton-based indie-folk duo delivering heartfelt songs
with captivating harmonies. Spencer Taubner and Kelin Flanagan write music
dedicated to the people and places they love, from the wide open prairies of their
home to the forests and oceans they dream about. With a focus on personal
storytelling in cinematic natural settings, and a sound that centres on seamless vocal
harmonies and intricate acoustic guitar, Loud in the Pines leaves audiences with
renewed appreciation for the winding pathways in life.
In June 2023, Loud in the Pines released their first EP, bitter bright, self-recorded in
their home studio. Their first full-length record, Every Colour Left (May 2025), was
supported by the Edmonton Arts Council and produced by JUNO-winner Ben
Plotnick (The Fretless, Oliver the Crow). It explores stories of place, community, and
connection in soaring full-band arrangements, and was nominated for a 2026
Canadian Folk Music Award.
